sandra goes to sulawesi
so finally sandra steps her foot on the island of sulawesi ^-^
It's a curious island, very beautiful, very different, with interesting people all around
I went to Makassar, Luwuk (and and some other remore area in Central Sulawesi), and finally to Gorontalo
Along the way, these are the food I found and ate and took picture of
Enjoy the culinary journey ...
Had a very very luxurious lunch in Makassar, in a seafood resto called Dinar
Was told that in Makassar, the principle is "One fish for one person"
No wonder our dining table was overwhelmingly full
The fish above is kudu-kudu - it's very delicious when served as fried pieces
this one is ikan ayam-ayam

The fish above is kudu-kudu - it's very delicious when served as fried pieces
it's cut in half and some chilly sauce is put in the middle
so it's a rather nice surprise because when it came, it looked pretty plain
but open it into two halves and all the good stuff is in the middle
this one is grilled and has inedible skin
so that's what I got for dinner and breakfast when staying in the house of Pak Kepala Desa in Pandauke village
The mother proudly said that it's his son who speared the boar near the village
Tasted rather strange
It's basically red bean cooked with pork
It's made of sticky rice
so a bit like lemper only this one is served plain
usually eaten together with sauce pork (babi kecap)
Pork is considered a luxury here
So people serve pork to the guests they honour though for that they have to walk for one whole day through mountains and valleys while carrying the pig to the village
frantically we bought 22 coconuts which fill almost all space at the back of our car
almost asked the people sitting at the back to walk back home coz we think t's so much more important to bring all the coconuts back than the people =PPP
Hasn't got much time to explore the city but made a quick trip to Pia Cemerlang Indah
Very nice pie ... everyone who gets the pie from me seem to agree about it
It's not that much different with naskun Bandung
Only this one is served with meats rather than eggs and abon
Plus the price is very expensive but perhaps that's coz we eat it at the airport
Airport food is always unreasonably priced
Depot Bu Merry, 11 Sep. 2008
So that Thursday we decided to try out a new place that serves typical East Java dishes. The owner is Kurnia, a friend of my bro. It's located at Jl. Lengkong Kecil no. 3. Opening hours: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
There were four of us that day, since san was on a mission trip to Sulawesi. Jean ordered nasi soto Bromo, ucil nasi penyetan (rice with two pieces of tempe and tahu with sambel and lalapan, mar nasi udang Bu Merry (rice with fried shrimps and shreded beef, me nasi pecel).
Everyone was very pleased with what they ordered: good taste, quite big portions and very reasonable prices. The sambel was HOT, HOT, HOT!! Even ucil, the sambel lover, couldn't bear it!!
Dunno what happened with the pics. I think ucil took them.
From there we went to PT Rasa on Jl. Lengkong Besar to have some ice cream. We enjoyed our conversation so much that we had to force ourselves to go home at about 8.30 p.m. It was a very nice evening. :))

sausage noodles and the grandpa
coz it's my bday, all members of icip2 (complete at last - the 7 of us) went to mie baso sosis in pasirkaliki
it's the new resto located next to the famous sausage and ham shop on that street
henni recommended the green juice there which is (in her words) "much better than that in ta yang suki"

so there we went
the special menu is sausage noodles
so instead of noodles with dumplings or meatballs, we got noodles with sausage
either beef or chicken sausage

while we're eating, a grandpa and two elderly women suddenlywalked around our table
and started pointing at our food
and we started to be annoyed
later the grandpa even asked what's the name of our food and how it tasted
finally it's disclosed that they come from Jakarta
Oh, no wonder ... we thought in unison
