it was unbelievably cheap sampe kita semua terheran-heran. pesen 3 piring nasi uduk, kol goreng, tahu tempe, dan lalaban. dan harganya ga sampe sepuluh ribu total ... amazing!!! nasi uduk is the traditional food of Indonesia - rice cooked with coconut milk. usually eaten with abon (kinda dried meat) and fried eggs. though of course you are free to add anything else to it, if you want to

sandra arrived late and couldnt eat coz she had craved at home. so she's heavily scolded by the three others for not eating and for arriving late >.<

afterwards we went to ilalang cafe to enjoy live music by han2, one of the students in UKM. it was jazz night. everyone ordered different kind of drinks - ice lemon tea, coffee vienna, shirley temple, and milk shake strawberry. deth and jean2 were busy sending texts which were never sent ^^

so here they are. the top one is sekoteng. sekoteng is a traditional drink made of bread, biscuits, kolang-kaling, pacar cina, and syrup. it's an ideal drink for cold weather. the golden balls, of course, are none other than the heavenly obi.

welcome to the world to baby francis. he was born on thursday morning and wasn't even a day old when we saw him in the hospital that evening. we were all so eager to hear the story of how he was born from his mom, hihi. she said: oh, you just wouldn't want to know the pain. but later when she was out looking at baby francis from the glass window, she whispered: i could look at him forever. well, motherhood must be quite an adventure after all.

having visited the hospital, we continued to cibadak to eat kobe steamboat yang lokasinya deket pertigaan cibadak dan pajagalan. jalan pajagalan ini nanti tembus ke kalipah apo. hari ini ada member baru: risa yang tadinya sok ga mau ikut makan tapi ternyata ikut juga. alasannya karena dia lapar mata waktu liat menu makan hihi di rumah sakit. aneh ... we ordered steamboat and tempura. steamboat-nya banyak sekali. isinya ada tahu, seafood, daging, jamur, sayuran, dan kita boleh minta tambah sayurannya gratis.

tante yang punya kobe dulu pernah curhat ada masalah kontrak sampe ke Komnas HAM segala. tadinya pengen ditanya kelanjutan ceritanya tapi karena semua keasikan makan, akhirnya lupa. dan tantenya juga tumben ga bolak-balik di depan, padahal biasanya selalu stand by dan ngasih nasi tambahan gratis. malam ini karena yang serve si om-nya, jadi kita kena charge untuk tambahan nasi ^^


abis makan kita jalan sedikit untuk beli obi. masih di cibadak juga, sejajaran dengan kobe. obi is a kinda traditional snack, an empty ball made of flour and tasted sweet and crunchy. the man wearing red in the pic is the seller. he kindly posed for us when i told him i wanted to take his pic. he said he'd been selling obi for five years but now a lot of people had imitated his secret recipe.
Cara masak obinya juga unik. Jadi si penjual ini punya bulatan-bulatan obi mentah yang dimasukin ke minyak panas di wajan (ADUH, i have put the pic of obi in the frying pan here tapi ga tau kenapa tiba-tiba ilang!!! ihik) trus obi mentah ini lama-lama mengembang. kalo udah setengah mengembang, obi ini harus dipencet-pencet pake sodokannya supaya dia bisa mengembang sempurna dan dalemnya jadi kosong, leaving the golden crunchy layer forming the shape of a ball. yah pokoknya begitulah, its quite an interesting way to make obi.

abis makan obi, kita beli sekoteng di jalan pasir kaliki, depan SMA Angkasa, tepatnya di depan studio foto. konon menurut fenty, ini sekoteng paling enak se-Bandung. jean2 beli wedang jahe, fenty beli sekoteng. trus kita semua mampir di kos risa untuk makan dan nonton 'Little Britain' yang kata ci deth adalah film sakit (aduh gubrak gambar sekotengnya juga ilang ... ini gimana seh!!!)

fenty has just received good news. she is about to continue her study in manila, phillipines next september. her most essential plan is to bring as much supermie as her bagage allows ^^ and to look for 'legolas' there. happy searching. jangan lupa belajar juga =P

akhirnya ci dedeth juga bergabung!!! aaaaah senang sekali yang nulis jadi makin banyak :'-) sampe terharu ...

welcome jean2 ... aduh senangnya sekarang ga sendirian lagi nulis blog klub icip-icip!!!

talking about character's flaw in shakespeare's plays, kita sadar memang manusia itu mudah tergoda dan tidak sempurna. contohnya tentu saja kita. setelah setuju that we're gonna eat out only once a week, minggu ini kita langsung makan dua kali - and that's right after we made the agreement. tapi kan hidup memang penuh adaptasi ^^

there was a drama performance by teater topeng tonight in the university theatre. Romeo and Juliet. started at 7 p.m. jadi sebelum nonton, tentu saja kita harus makan dulu. today we went to soto sulung di depan majesty. it was simple, cheap, delicious, and hot - a perfect place to eat on a cold evening. jean2 pesen soto ayam pake jeruk nipis yang banyak, sandra the regular, deth without chicken but with eggs. yang pake telor, dapet telornya banyak sekali!!! and it cost less than 15.000,- for all that (fenty ga makan, btw, tapi sibuk menghabiskan satu bungkus sale pisang)

then we went back to the theatre. dramanya ... ya ampun ... engga banget deh. the tempo is so slow, banyak banget adegan ga penting (seperti semua figuran yang jadi tamu harus SEMUANYA bersalaman dulu sama tuan dan nyonya capulet di panggung, adegan balet-balet gitu sebelum kissing, dll), dan dialognya itu loh ... shakespeare's lovers would cry their eyes out listening to this adaptation - banyak banget dialog klise yang so-not-shakespeare (kaya dialog romeo: oh, dia cantik sekali seperti bidadari - gubrak deh memangnya ga ada frase yang lebih original gitu?) and the play cut out some parts of the original script - such as the fact that romeo had a cousin called benvolio and he was at first broken hearted with rosalind before meeting juliet in capulet's party. anehnya udah banyak yang dipotong pun, tempo dramanya masih lambaaaaaaat sekali. after one hour, the balcony scene hasn't even started yet. padahal rasanya balcony scene itu masih di babak-babak awal play. wah belum nanti adegan when romeo is banished, adegan juliet minum racun, dan adegan romeo bunuh diri (usually this is the one that takes forever to build suspense and dramatic irony) pas jam 9.30-an, nengok ke sebelah dan ternyata fenty, deth, dan jean2 semua udah pada tidur dengan nyenyaknya di kursi masing-masing dan selimutan dengan jaket (sayang pisan ge sempet difoto!!!) jadi akhirnya kita memutuskan pulang meskipun dramanya belum beres. kabur ceritanya ... trus di luar kita mulai keketawaan sampe mau nangis ngomongin romeo and juliet barusan (duh buat temen-temen teater topeng, maaf ya, our review is so negative tapi romeo and juliet yang ini tuh memang engga banget deh. some of your previous plays were much better, such as lysistrata) eh udah acara menghina-hina gitu, pas deket tempat parkir, fenty and her cousin mendadak mendengar suara aneh menggeram di balik salah satu pintu. hih ... jadi seram. cepet-cepet semua bertobat, masuk mobil dan pulang ^^

klub icip-icip hari ini resmi mempunyai pembukuan. atas ide jean2 (yang fotonya tertera di samping) kita mengadakan arisan makan-makan. jadi kalo orang lain arisan nanti dapetnya uang, kita dapetnya makan gratis ... we all agree it is not a very healthy concept - especially for those who are planning to lose weight - tapi setelah dirasionalisasi bahwa kita HANYA akan makan seminggu sekali dan kegiatan klub icip-icip juga akan diimbangi dengan bergerak dan olahraga ... akhirnya semua setuju. we already made the list of all the eating places we want to visit dan sekarang kita juga punya kas dan pembukuan kecil ... thanks to jean2 yang menggambari dan menulisi (that's the book underneath her chin in the picture, btw). to celebrate, we went to barrios ^^

barrios is a sort of resto-lounge in braga-walk. is usually quite dark inside and has lots of huge sofas - so giving an aura of being expensive. but deth got vouchers for some best-price lunch packages as long as we came before five in the evening. so, deth and jean2 shared black cajun chicken and baked potato, fenty ordered chilli con chicken, and sandra got salmon tartare. the salmon was especially nice - with kinda lemon sauce and cream cheese and potatoes. and it's been such a long time since the last time she ate salmon. when we filled the customer's comment card later (rather cruel comments i should say ^^), we put the address of our blog on it
